Manually export Printer Drivers

I urgently needed a printer driver but the producer's site was offline for maintenance.. I found a workaround exporting drivers from another server.

Open registry and export the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-3\

Get the list of files took from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-3\\Dependent Files

Copy them from
%systemroot%\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3
Go to the destination machine and do the reverse tasks.

It worked, Thanks! This can be very useful when clients connect with printers that don't give you the bare driver on a terminal server. I've been in a situation where the only source of a driver is the setup file, but it refuses to run unless the printer is connected, which is usually impossible with a terminal server. Thanks!

Hi Vittorio,
do you know by chance if this works even when replacing xp hardware to a windows 7 machine ?
Thanks in advance
